September 26 is the filing deadline for the first pre-runoff campaign statements in the upcoming general elections for the City of Los Angeles (City) and the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education (LAUSD). The 2024 City and LAUSD general elections will be held on November 5, 2024.
Campaign committees are required to submit campaign statements periodically throughout an election cycle. Campaign statements promote government transparency by requiring candidates, candidate committees, and independent expenditure committees to disclose their financial transactions, such as contributions received, and expenditures made.
Once filed, campaign statements are immediately available for public viewing and downloading on the Ethics Commission's Public Data Portal at ethics.lacity.gov/data. The Ethics Commission's Election Totals page at ethics.lacity.gov/elections also provides a summary of the reported data for each district and candidate in the race. In addition, the Ethics Commission offers various filtering and visualization tools on its Data Hub at ethics.lacity.gov/data/hub. These resources are designed to help the public understand campaign data in different ways and to empower an informed electorate.
