As we approach the 2024 elections for the City of Los Angeles (City) and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the Ethics Commission announces the upcoming filing deadline for campaign statements scheduled for January 10. The 2024 City and LAUSD primary elections will be held on March 5. Campaign statements associated with elections promote government transparency by disclosing financial transactions, such as contributions received and expenditures made by candidate committees, as well as independent expenditures committees.
Campaign committees are required to submit campaign statements periodically throughout the election cycle. These documents are required to be submitted to the Ethics Commission for public record. Once filed, campaign statements are available for public viewing and downloading on the Ethics Commission's Public Data Portal at ethics.lacity.org/data. Additionally, a summary of the reported data for each district and candidate in the race is provided on the Ethics Commission's Election Totals page at ethics.lacity.org/elections.
To facilitate a deeper understanding of campaign finance data, the Ethics Commission offers various tools and resources on its Data Hub at ethics.lacity.org/data/hub. These resources are designed to help the public filter and visualize the data in different ways, empowering an informed electorate.
